Re: Dirty drivers might go dirt cheap
I've got both 288Bs and these....

...which have gotten the full Monty conversion at GPA. These were the drivers I was referencing earlier in this thread. However, you do bring up an interesting point. Are you saying that 288Bs are worth only half as much as 288-16Bs? I would find that surprising given the relative number of each......
Re: Dirty drivers might go dirt cheap
288B are worth significantly less. Sorry got confused when read your post.
here are two closed auctions on 16G's
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Altec-288-16...item27bda50212
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Altec-288-16...item2a137c50a3
Average of the two 1300...I have seen ultra clean 288B's for closer to two thirds that and sometimes less.
I don't know about the price of converted 291-16b. Just saying it's way cheaper to pay 6-700 than 1300.
Funny thing but the raggediest 288B's sometimes bring the higher price. Maybe people think they look older.

Now I see how I got confused. If you took 291b and put in 288 frams, you do not have 288B. You have 288G.
So you wound up with 650 in them , wonderful deal for a clean set. And much better than the eBay deal.
The 291 frams go for 80-90 used on eBay, BTW, so you can recover a some investment. People still using the 291 frams have no choice but used or NOS as the Symbiotik is no longer made.
